So you want to write
People have told me that they want to write a book
but don't know how to get started. They are always
surprised by my advice and how easy it sounds.
Just write and don't stop! It really is that easy.
Keep going forward and don't look back. Looking
back at what you wrote is the kiss of death.
Writers call it "editing block", meaning you will
be trapped in the edit mode and never get out of
it to continue writing your story.
You'll have time to do editing on your second rewrite
and third rewrite. Judging your words before you are
finished with the first draft truly is the worst thing you
could do. Don't worry about being perfect or holes in
your story on the first draft. You can fix it on the
second and third draft. Your goal should be to get
the story written first, this needs to be your number
one priority.
At some point during your writing you will begin thinking
that your story is no good and that you should just quit.
Don't give in, keep going forward. Try to write everyday,
keep the topic fresh in your head, touch your story
everyday even if only for a few minutes.
